{"ops":[{"insert":"\nHello, and welcome to this Animar deck meant for high power level and cEDH play. Special thanks to JMCraig, Primer Animar on moxfield, Animar Reddit, and all previous Animar players for suggestions and research on this Temur Terror!\n\nOverall:\nThis is a combo deck meant to bounce and go infinite with power, treasure, or draw. This is not the typical Animar into Eldrazi build, and very little combat damage is used. Instants are used to slow and nag other players while we build to the mid game where we can combo when everyone else is tapped out or out of interaction cards.\n\nStarting hand:\nIt is best to have two or three lands starting to guarantee putting Animar on the field by turn three. Mana dorks or exile creatures can accelerate this to turn 2 or 1, but leave mana open for interaction and protection. Decks can either put speed you or use a single counterspell to throw a wrench in the machine, shutting you out early. \n\nIt’s best to ramp while keeping mana up for a basic interaction card. This allows you to be somewhat relevant and stop speedy decks from combo winning turn 2. If possible, it’s also good to have a card draw engine to push you farther in value.\n\nAfter Animar\nAfter spending RGU, Animar will hit the field. It is best to play small creatures or quick +1/+1 creatures like Bond Beetle to rapidly bring Animar to 3 or 4 counters. After this, you should fish for combo starters and chains, since this is all you need. \n\nNo need for a 12/12 commander here, if you start a combo you can finish it and win the game. About now, card draw engines or tutors should help you get your starting combo pieces out. Grazilixx, Mezzio, and the blue enchantments help with the draw, while Survival, Fauna Shaman, and the plethora of green tutors help.\n\nI’m the midgame, big bombs like Consecrated Sphinx, Terror of the Peaks, and Wandering Archaic can be cheated out with reduced costs. If unchecked, you will launch yourself far ahead of the others in board state, but expect them to be removed. This is ok, since none of these are truly wincons and allow us to play our combos after they have used up all their interaction ammo.\n\nTha Chains\n\nThe most basic Animar chain is Ancestral Statue to Walking Balista. If you play this, you win the game with infinite ETB, infinite Animar, and an infinite WB to one shot everyone. This can be tutored by Weird Harvest or Shared Summons, which can be tutored by a mystical tutor or a Spellseeker for Weird Harvest. Since this is the most basic, expect this to be instantly countered by everyone at the table, so only play it if you know everyone’s out of interaction. That, or we can use this as the bait so we can play another win combo.\n\nBarrin or Temur Sabertooth + dockside is another way to go infinite. You need to break even to get infinite mana, but Animar makes dockside only cost 1 red mana so it’s easier to hit this goal of 4 or 5 enemy enchantments or artifacts. This also works with Peregrine Drake, but this generates infinite floating mana not in the form of tokens. \n\nTo grab all of these pieces and launch them in one turn, it’s best to use Imperial Recruiter to chain creatures to your hand.\n(RUUG, 4 life, +2 counters on Animar)\nImperial Recruiter->Phyrexian Meta->copies Imperial Recruiter->Spellseeker->Neoform-> Ancestral statue bounce-> bounce Phyrexian Meta-> copies Imperial Recruiter-> Walking balista for infinite.\n\n(RUU, 4 life, +2 counters, 2 sacrificed permanents, either R OR U for the target bounced creature)\nImperial Recruiter->Phyrexian Meta->copies Imperial Recruiter->Barrin->bounce back Phyrexian Meta-> copies imperial recruiter->find dockside or peregrine drake.\n\nIf dockside, infinite treasures mean you could bounce imperial recruiter to fetch Professional Face Breaker, which can exile your whole library to fetch anything. \n\nFinally, if Walking Ballista is not an available wincon, Purphoros or Terror of the Peaks work as payoffs for infinite ETB. Infinite ETB means Beast Whisperer draw. The reason for redundancy is just to ensure we can have a wincon if anything bad happens or if they dig through our library to eliminate the Walking Ballista.\n\nProtection:\nSo we have our game plan, so how do we execute this without someone force of willing us to oblivion?\n\nAllosaurus Shepherd makes green spells uncounterable. Weird harvest, neoform, shared summons, and Animar itself heavily enjoy this. \n\nPainter’s Servant makes all spells white or black to make spot removal impossible for Animar. If you make everything green, Allosaurus Shephard makes everything uncounterable.\n\nSylvan Safekeeper is shroud for whatever target you want. Due to Animar discount, you aren’t entirely reliant on lands for mana.\n\nSpellskite and Destiny spinner are generic countermeasures to prevent targeted removal and countering.\n\nAs far as Stax and specific hate, Collector Ouphe hates artifacts, Mystic and Rhystic tax, Magebane Lizard stops storm or spell slingers, and Wandering Archaic hates every instant or sorcery.\n\nSo what beats us?\nAnimar is resilient to spot removal due to its protection from white or black. However, non targeted removal such as board wipes are fair game. Slip out the back or March of Swirling Mist might help if you know you’re about to face such a deck.\n\nAdditionally, this deck is entirely reliant on casting creatures and getting ETB effects.
