{"ops":[{"insert":"I'm very new to the Magic world. A couple months ago I played some games with some buddies and was instantly hooked. Figured buying a precon deck would be the easiest, so I went for the MOTM Cavalry Charge deck. I have sense been buying cards here and there trying to tweak it to make it my own. That has resulted in the deck I'll post here. I'm looking for general suggestions/ideas on what I did well or didn't do well. Really, I'm looking for any and all feedback. Appreciate it!\n\nhttps://archidekt.com/decks/4486417/motm_cavalry_charge\n"}]}

{"ops":[{"insert":"Buckle up. This is going to be a long one.\n\nMembers of the Commander Rules Committee and Commander Advisory Group talk about their intent for a game of Commander to have phases similar to a story plot. It's banned or restricted in every other format because it makes more mana than its casting cost. Thran Dynamo takes 2 turns to put you ahead of the mana spent to cast it. I'm not saying cut Thran Dynamo. It's a good card and you should play it if you want to. I am saying it doesn't make strategic sense to include Thran Dynamo and exclude Sol Ring.\n\nYou picked some great knights to add. More of a tribe is usually the right call in a tribal deck. You also cut the equipment from the precon. I agree with that call. \n\nI noticed you added a couple tribal support artifacts. That's good. Just keep in mind "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Coat of Arms"}},{"insert":" is symmetrical. This means it can backfire if another player fields a lot of creatures of the same type. Cards with 3 or more pips of the same color tend to be difficult to cast in decks with three or more colors. Your mileage may vary depending on your deck's ability to fix colors.\n\nSpeaking of color fixing, your deck's mana production is evenly distributed between all three of your colors, but almost 60% of the color pips in your deck are white. This could lead you to get color screwed. Decks usually play better when colored mana cost is proportional to colored mana production. Look at the color pie chart in your deck stats. I recommend you tune your mana base so the inner circle looks more like the outer circle.\n\n"},{"insert":{"card-link":"Haakon, Stromgald Scourge"}},{"insert":" is an awesome card for Sidar Jabari. When WotC spoiled this commander, I immediately thought of Haakon. I was not surprised they included it in the precon. Haakon allows you to discard Knights with Jabari's emminence ability and cast them anyway. A lot of tribal decks struggle to rebuild after a board wipe or even just a bad combat phase. Haakon also solves this problem.\n\nI know that's a long post, but I hope it helps. \n"}]}

{"ops":[{"insert":"THANK YOU! That was exactly what I was looking for. I'll respond paragraph by paragraph so you can get a better understanding of my thought process. \n\nI think the main foundation for my decisions is shallow (as I'm sure that's the case with many new players). Shallow meaning I don't quite understand yet all the intricate details when it comes to MTG and how to play. So, my mindset was: I see this is a Knight deck, so lets make it into a Tribal deck. I started researching \"best cards for knights\" or \"best cards for Knight Tribal decks\", so on and so forth. I copied all cards I found and narrowed it down to what I thought would have synergy. \n\n1.) Resource accumulation: Great response. I suppose I fell into the trap of thinking those cards weren't as important as a creature or instant that I liked. They seemed boring to me compared to the other cards I could replace them with. Probably not the best trap to fall into! Thank you for roping me back in with that one. \n\n2.) Great advice regarding Coat of Arms. I wasn't even thinking about it affecting my opponent as well. Didn't even know that would be a thing. Thank you for the other cards you listed as possibilities. \n\n3.) As for Hullbreaker Horror - I have no other explanation other than it looked good to me. I definitely did not have my goals or synergy in mind whatsoever. Once again, thanks for roping me back in. \n\n4.) I wasn't thinking about cost casting issues with 3+ mono pips in multicolored decks. Great to know. Makes a lot of sense. Maybe adding some lands that give me any mana color would help? I generally play games aggresively, so I'm all about the risk. Keeps things from getting boring for me\n\n5.) I think mana production being evenly distributed was huge advice. I was slightly aware, but you putting it into context with how many pips I had of White made that thought go from blurry to clear. \n\n \nAlso regarding Haakon: This is my thought process leaving him out. I know I'm wrong but want you to get an insight to it. Wouldn't I need to put Haakon into my graveyard first before his utility can even be used? I felt like it would be really difficult to get him into the graveyard. Maybe I don't understand the card \n"}]}

{"ops":[{"insert":"Greetings and welcome. You picked a great precon to start with.\n\nI need to know one thing to before I give any feedback. Please explain your sideboard. I'm guessing you're using it as something similar to your maybeboard, but I don't dare proceed on that assumption. \n"}]}

{"ops":[{"insert":"Yes, sideboard and maybeboard are basically the same thing in this case. They are all cards ive thought about putting in, and quite a few were included in the original precon that I took out. Maybeboard was acting as a \"tier 1\" and sideboard as a \"tier 2\" of potential adds. \n\nI cannot believe how difficult its been deciding on what cards to add/drop at the end here of my research 😂 ive bee staring at an excell spreadsheet for a solid week with all these lists and categries...and have made like 2 changes \n\nThank you for taking the time to look\n"}]}
