{"ops":[{"insert":"You mentioned \"No Command Tower\" in your list of examples, but according to Scryfall (and your own deckbuilder), Command Tower is recognized as a legal card in Modern, due to its printing in the Brawl Precons. Should we consider that as the basis for modern legality, or your literal words here, that being \"Standard legal sets + Modern Horizons\"?\n"}]}

{"ops":[{"insert":"Great question! In short, the latter. The spirit of the prompt is very much \"use things people would use in Modern\". I'll modify the original post to reflect this, but anything made legal by one of those Throne of Eldraine brawl decks shouldn't be used. I apologize for the confusion-- I definitely should have thought of that ahead of time. \n"}]}

Sure, you might lose to it (in Modern) because you couldn't stop it, but let's be honest, that's kind of awesome. People are straight up losing to MONKEYS. I was inspired by the sheer meme factor of Ragavan, so I included a bunch of Modern cards that are played with Ragavan in this Commander deck, without forgetting about all the modern-legal Commander cards that are really good with The Monkey™ and a few spicy cards I enjoy personally. If you don't look at this deck and go, yeah that's a Modern deck with THE Modern card as Commander, then you're just monkeying around!\n"}]}

{"ops":[{"attributes":{"link":"https://archidekt.com/decks/2268727#Hidesplosion_Contest_Entry"},"insert":"Hidesplosion"},{"insert":"\n\nSometimes, you just have to cheat to win. \n\nWhen I saw the new Hidetsugu from Neon Kamigawa, I knew that was the answer. This decklist tries it hardest to cheat on average mana costs, to ensure activations of Hidetsugu, Devouring Chaos and effects like Calibrated Blast would do the absolute maximum amount of damage. The list goes about getting an average mana cost of more than 5 in a few ways: playing cyclers, land cyclers, and mana rocks over a lot of lands; running cards that can be cast for less than their printed mana costs; and running split cards, which now have a cmc equal to both halves combined!\n\nDespite the crazy high mana costs, the deck still has a ton of options from turn 2 onward, and has multiple modes of play. In addition to stacking your deck with sensei's top to guarantee the biggest explosions, the deck can run as a Rakdos haymaker list by dropping mana rocks and playing huge, terrifying threats, backed up by sunbird's invocation and a pile of damage doublers. Not enough people for two pods? Heck, you even cheat on that: cast the biggest explosion of all - Undying Flames, copy it a few times (copies also have epic!), and leave your deck on literal autopilot while you fire up a second game. \n\nOne last thing - I'd like to thank the Archidekt admins for both running these contests, and for finally letting us submit decks through the site. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's cool decks!\n"}]}

Per the usual Elves gameplan, the deck aims to quickly flood the board with creatures before using Shaman of the Pack to drain out opponents. From there, this deck adds flicker effects and a bevy of other aristocrat effects for more oomph and staying power in grindier games. It also packs plenty of interaction & recursion so that all the key pieces remain in place to ensure a clear path to victory!\n\n\n"}]}

The result that I came up with is a, very strange, group-mill and control deck with Approach of the Second Sun, Laboratory Maniac, and Triskaidekaphile as win conditions. Vega, the Watcher is my chosen commander and, again using the theme of time, takes advantage of the Suspend, Flashback, and Foretell mechanics to continually draw cards in addition to having multiple opportunities to cast cards off the top of the library. All cards used are Modern legal as well as Commander legal, so you could technically use this deck in either format if you'd like. It is certainly not the most powerful deck ever constructed but I hope that you will consider it for this contest!\n"}]}

Teshar allows for great Modern-esque gameplay in commander, playing combo pieces like legos, figuring out new ways to go infinite almost every game! Protect yourself by recurring Selfless Spirit and Kami of False Hope over and over again. If you haven't found a combo yet, you can wait behind Ethersworn Canonist or Archon of Emeria, locking your opponents into casting only 1 spell a turn, only for you to sacrifice it when you have the pieces assembled. Worried about not having enough redundancy? Fiddlebender, Moonsilver Key, and Scrapyard combiner can almost always search for at least 2 pieces of your many, many 3 card combos.\n"}]}
